Verification Procedure – What Happens After You Apply

After submitting your application, it goes through a 4-stage process. Here is exactly what happens at each stage.

Stage 1 – BOP Verification

The Bank of Punjab checks your details against NADRA records. Your college confirms your student status. This takes up to 10 days.

Stage 2 – Digital Balloting

If applications exceed quota, a transparent computerized ballot takes place. Selected students receive an SMS on their registered number. Keep your phone active.

Stage 3 – Financial Scrutiny Meeting

BOP calls you for an in-person meeting. They check your guarantor’s income and calculate your Debt Burden Ratio (DBR). Sign the facility letter and open a bank account. Then pay your down payment (20–30%).

Stage 4 – Bike Delivery

The dealer delivers your bike with insurance included. Bike registration cost is not included — you pay that separately at your local excise office.

How Much Will You Actually Pay?

This is a subsidized scheme — the government pays part of the loan. Here is a clear breakdown of what comes out of your pocket.

  • Duration: 2 years

Electric Bike vs Petrol Bike – Which One is Right for You?

Both options are available under this scheme. But they suit different situations. Read this before you choose — you cannot change your selection after submitting.

⚡ Electric Bike
  • Saves Rs. 7,000–8,000/month in fuel costs
  • No engine oil, no carburetor, no spark plugs
  • Lower monthly installment (Rs. 2,000–3,000)
  • Best for: City students, 15–20 km daily commute
⛽ Petrol Bike
  • Works without a charging station nearby
  • Better for long distances in rural areas
  • Wider availability of repair shops
  • Best for: Rural students, longer daily routes

Mistakes That Will Get You Rejected

  • Wrong CNIC digits — one wrong number and your application is invalid. Triple-check it.
  • Expired learner’s permit — renew it first, then apply.
  • Blurry document scans — the portal auto-rejects unclear files.
  • SIM not in your name — you will miss the OTP and selection SMS.
  • Applying to the wrong scheme — teacher portal ≠ student portal.
  • Changing bike after deadline — decide before submitting.

⚠️ Scam Awareness

Scammers get very active when popular government schemes launch. Protect yourself:

  • Only use bikes.punjab.gov.pk — no other website
  • No government officer will ever call and ask for money
  • Do not share your CNIC on WhatsApp or Facebook groups
  • BOP Helpline: 042-111-333-267
